90122W10_CRUISE_T_B_GR_01 Variety is reporting that Tom Cruise is narrowing his choices of his next big role and that he has “single-handedly propped up the script doctoring biz”. What do they mean by that? Supposedly, studios have spent millions of dollars on rewriting scripts tailored to Tom.

They are saying that script writers for these potential films for Tom to star in have been making as much as $250,000 a week, for two to six weeks. The rewrites come with notes from Tom.

The films that have been reportedly revised are "Wichita", "Motorcade", "The Tourist" and "Matarese Circle". It has been announced that Tom Cruise will not star in “The 28th Amendment” or “Lost for Words”.

Since I am not in the depths of the film world, I have no idea if rewrites are common or not, with notes from the potential star. I do know that Tom’s next move as far as a movie goes is very important. He needs to choose wisely and make sure that the film is exactly what he wants.
