TV producer Nigel Lythgoe has taken to twitter to defend Katie Holmes after people are being critical of her performance on “So You Think You Can Dance” July 23rd.  (Check out her performance here.)

Critics have said it was amateurish, that she didn’t come close to mimicking Judy Garland and so much more. Some experts (and of course us fans) praised her for her performance and for the reason she did it in the first place: for fun and for The Dizzy Feet Foundation.

Here’s what Nigel had to say via twitter:

“Why hate on Katie? She’s had no dance training and did this for publicity for the charity. Everyone lip synchs when they’re dancing. MJ too.”

“I’m going to ban all the Katie haters. You make me sick. Your attitude stops ’stars’ doing charity work. Understand why she did it CHILDREN”

“@brandonlk she’s not in competition and she’s not a dancer. She’s a charity worker. Don’t be ignorant!”

“I’m trying to figure out why Katie is being judged as a dancer. When a star throws out the opening pitch no-one says "ooh crap pitcher!"

As you can see, he was not happy and I can’t blame him. I chose not to read all of the nasty remarks about Katie’s performance because I get it. I get why she did it and also, the girl had FUN! You can tell she loves to dance and she was just downright enjoying herself. Kudos to her for taking to the stage and raising awareness for The Dizzy Feet Foundation.
