Thanks to *Katie* for the heads up on this article!
The Tony Awards were last night and some of the Broadway veterans had some advice for Katie Holmes. Katie is making her Broadway debuted in “All My Sons” this fall. Broadway is definitely buzzing about Katie!
So, what did they have to say?
John Lithgow, who will co-star with Katie, said, “She’s a pro and I’d say to be herself. She’s going to be wonderful. I’m looking forward to working with her. We haven’t worked together yet but it’s going to be great.”
Brooke Shields, who starred in Chicago, was also there to lend some advice. “She will be so happy about making that decision,” says Shields. “There is nothing like it. It’s the Olympics. It’s the college of theater.”
I have always heard that starring on Broadway is grueling. Katie will be on stage 6 nights a week and then you have rehearsals, possibly the press to speak with, etc. Needless to say, you need a whole lot of energy and you have to keep yourself healthy.
Kristin Chenoweth advises Katie to get lots of sleep and drink plenty of water.
I also think Katie will do just fine. I can’t imagine how her nerves are going to be on opening night. But like everyone says, Katie is a pro and she is handling this very seriously. I know she will be well prepared and she has a lot of support from her co-stars on stage and her family.
