UPDATE: Even though OK! said they broke the story, Katie’s rep is now denying that this is true. Reps do this a lot and then sometimes it ends up being true anyway, but I will stay on top of the story.
It’s official and OK! got the scoop. They reported earlier that Katie was working on a clothing line with Armani with hope’s to introduce it by the year’s end. They can now confirm the deal and it will be called: Katie Holmes for Armani. This really is a first for such a high-end name. Never before has such a huge fashion name teamed up with a non-professional designer.
Sources say that “Right now this is Katie’s life…She is extremely excited about it.”
Who is Katie’s fashion inspiration?
“Katie’s muse in her new endeavor is none other than her daughter, Suri, who turns 2 next month. As OK! previously reported, Katie, 29, designed the adorable polka-dot dress the toddler was photographed wearing in Paris last year. “The first clothes will all be things she could imagine Suri wearing,” confirms the source.”
Katie Holmes for Armani will come out over the next 2 years starting with a collection for toddlers. Following that will be a line for older children, handbags and a women’s collection.
What’s a Katie Holmes piece going to cost you?
“The Katie Holmes for Armani collection will be comparable in price to the Armani ready-to-wear line,” the source says. “It will be sold in stores like Saks, Barneys New York and Neiman Marcus. We’re talking very upscale: less expensive than Armani Privé but more than Armani Exchange. These are going to be very high-quality clothes. We’re not talking cheesy Jessica Simpson stuff.”
Well, a little over my budget so I’ll just have to admire from afar. *sigh*
Is this the end of Katie’s acting career? Sources say no, that just because she is dedicated to fashion, does not mean the end of an acting career. Yes, this Armani line is her number one focus right now as far as her career goes. Also, Tom is her number one fan and is supporting her in this endeavor.
I can’t wait to see the clothes!
