Fox News actually had something nice to say today about Katie Holmes’ performance in “All My Sons”. Did you just fall out of your chair? Yeah, I almost did.
They didn’t give an official review, but instead a “report”. Okay. I’ll go with that. The writer of the story,Roger Friedman, saw the play on Saturday night. He said it was a packed house and there were people outside trying to buy tickets. He also mentioned that after the show, a line of Katie fans formed, although he was hoping they were for the other cast members of the play as well.
Overall, this is what he had to say about her performance:
“She isn’t bad. She’s up against some real pros, and she holds her own. Like most movie and TV actors, her voice and projection need work. But she knows her lines, appears to understand the character and does not embarrass herself at all. Given the pressures involved, that’s a lot.”
I have read other places about her needing to work on her voice projection, but I imagine that has a lot to do with her nerves. Katie is under a lot of pressure to perform well and from the sounds of it, she is doing just fine.
We have all seen Katie heading into rehearsals 6 days a week and her and the cast are obviously working very long hours. Mr. Friedman agrees Katie is working hard.
“The main thing is, Katie Holmes is in most of the play, and is working damn hard. She doesn’t need anyone to “save” her.”
