It’s time for some more Tom Cruise movie news! We recently heard that he will not be starring in “The 28th Ammendment” and that he is still eyeing certain movie roles. The latest movie news is that he and good friend John Travolta may team up to do a remake of the classic 1969 “Western Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”.
The article says that Tom received the blessing of Paul Newman (who played Cassidy) to do the movie right before he died of lung cancer in September. Tom would play Sundance and Travolta would play Cassidy. Robert Redford was the original Sundance Kid.
The film about two lovable Wild West bank robbers charmed a generation and garnered four Oscars.
Cruise intends to produce the remake through United Artists, the “golden era” studio he jointly owns after helping resurrect it as an MGM subsidiary in 2006.
A source told the Daily Express, “Butch and Sundance is a labour of love for Tom. He was eight years old when he saw the original and it made an impression that has stayed with him all his life. He can’t wait to get to work.”
